I get database errors when trying to open my front end book. What's wrong?

Check the following:

    You've created a database for your front end book (see Creating a Database).

    You've assigned a database to your front end book (see Assigning a Database).

    The tbkTrackerDatabaseID property of your front end book corresponds to the Database ID assigned to your database. If errors prevent you from accessing the TBKTrack menu in your front end book, you can use the following process to check the tbkTrackerDatabaseID:
 

1. Use the TBK Tracker Administrator to find the Database ID of the database you want associated with your front end book. See the TBK Tracker Administrator help for details.
    

2. In the command window of your front end book, type:
    

put tbkTrackerDatabaseID of this book

 

Note the result.

 

3. If the result differs from the Database ID you found using the Administrator, set the property to the correct ID using the command window:


tbkTrackerDatabaseID of this book = "put correct Database ID here"

 

4. If the result shows that the tbkTrackerDatabaseID is already correct, verify that the database exists in the location specified (either use the Administrator or check the tbksettg3.ini file).
    

I get errors in handler trSetupMenuOfLessons and/or displayLessonPage when I launch my front end book. Why?

You may have invalid properties in your front end book. Select Edit TBK Tracker Book Properties from the TBKTrack menu and check the following property settings:

    The lessonType should correspond to the lesson elements on your menuOfLessons page. See Lesson Types In the Front End Book for details.

    The numLessonsPerPage should be set to the number of lesson elements on your menuOfLessons page.

    If your lesson type is btnWithGraphics, be sure to set up your graphics for your lesson buttons as soon as they're available.

    Make sure that your goBackToPageName property is set to none or to a valid page name in your front end book.

When I run my front end book, I get a message saying "There are currently no defined courses." What should I do?

You need to define some courses using the TBK Tracker Administrator. See the TBK Tracker Administrator help for more information.

I have my course(s) set up for open enrollment, but they require a password. What password should new students use?

The first time a user enters a password protected course, they can enter ANY password they choose (provided the Administrator has not already assigned them one). They will be asked to verify their password, and from then on that will be their password (unless changed by the Administrator).

I get an "Invalid path to lesson file" message when I select a lesson. How do I fix this?

This means that the TBK file for the lesson selected cannot be found. Use the Administrator to point the lesson to a valid TBK file on your system. See the TBK Tracker Administrator help for more information.
